The Issue
Animal cruelty and abandonment are extremely common in today's society. According to Compassion and Responsibility for Animals (CARA) Welfare Philippines, there were 3,000 cases of animal cruelty in the Philippines in 2020 alone. According to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), there are around 12 million stray cats and dogs in the Philippines as of 2019, who are either former family pets or have reproduced on the streets due to a lack of adequate shelter. Despite the existence of laws that protects animal welfare, it is sad that animal cruelty is still a significant problem in the Philippines.
We, RSHS student advocates, believe in the welfare and well-being of all animals, including our stray companions who often suffer silently without access to essential veterinary care. It's time to take action and make a difference in the lives of these innocent creatures.
Our goal is to ensure that every stray cat and dog in our community receives the medical attention they need through free veterinary check-ups and to facilitate their adoption into loving homes.
By providing free veterinary check-ups, we can prevent unnecessary suffering and reduce the spread of diseases among stray animals. Furthermore, establishing adoption services will give these animals a chance to live in safe and caring environments, reducing the stray population and promoting responsible pet ownership.
By signing this petition, you're joining us in urging local authorities and relevant organizations to prioritize the health and safety of stray animals as we humans do. Your support will help ensure that these animals receive the care and love they deserve, ultimately creating a more compassionate community for both humans and animals alike.
Let's come together to make our communities more compassionate and to give every stray cat and dog a chance at a better life. Sign now to support this vital cause!
